UI Lead other Nigeria Universities as the Best - latest ranking

>>While Harvard University maintained its spot as the best university in the world, the University of Ibadan (UI) remained the best in Nigeria for year 2016 – holding the torch from 2015. According to the survey by Times Higher Education (THE) , Asian universities are becoming more prestigious, increasing from 10 to 18 universities in the Top 100. In Africa, Cape Town University in South Africa remained the best university, while University of Ghana, Legon, was named the best in west Africa. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, Cambridge, and Oxford University followed Harvard closely at the second, third, fourth and fifth position respectively. No African university made into the 2016 Top 100, with Cape Town University coming in at 120. University of Ibadan, Nigeria’s premiere University, with 26,247 students and a student-to-staff ratio of 17.1, came in between 601-801, as no specific position was given. No other Nigeria university made it into the top 800 universities in the world. Over the past five years, countries other than the US and UK have struggled to make it to the Top 10 with little success. The University of Tokyo in Japan is the only institution outside the US and UK to have come into the Ivy-10 league, hitting eighth in 2011 and 2012, and 9th in 2013. In 2016, Tokyo ranked best in Asia and 12th in the world. The US remains dominant in the Top 100 with the first three Universities and 40 others in the highly sought top 100 universities.

The Secret To Being Academically Excellent and genius

>>Is it your desire to score within the distinction range (70% and above) in all your tests and examinations? Do you desire to graduate from the university with outstanding results with an appealing transcript? Have you longed to be named as the best graduating student of your class, your faculty or even the entire university? There is one secret to acheive it, same way academic giants acheived theirs. That secret is enshrined in how you study. Cramming your notes and required text books and materials will not give you good grades and make you academically bright. Cliche right? But its true. Now look at this. Understanding the material, notes and class lectures wont give you your desired academic success either. Shocking right? Its true. You can attest to the fact that you may have done either of these two but havent seen significant changes in your grades. What then is the solution? Understanding PLUS cramming is the secret! We hear lecturers and other academic speakers advising students never to cram but to simply understand what they are being taught. They didnt tell you the whole story. A vital ingredient is missing from the pot of soup. When you understand a material only but dont cram the text word for word, cramming the terms and the context that an authority delivered the message, you appear amateurish. This would show in your write ups in essays and you would always be average in your objective questions. This is because, you may understand what you want to say, but you would use layman terms to express yourself, instead of delivering your answers in an academic tone, thus appearing as if a road side groundnut seller wrote the essay. You would score low. When you're asked to define Electromagnetism, and you answer by saying"I cant really remember the terms though but it means when current or electricity and magnet power work together to acheive an aim " you can expect the examiner to throw your scripts into the trash bin. A different scenario would occur if you defined the term exactly as it was stated in the textbooks and then proceed to explain what it means using the terms of the field in the right context. You then appear educated and an authority as far as that subject is concerned and gain maximum marks. Therefore, when studying you can approach it in two forms. One form either by first cramming the material and making sure you can say it by heart and then proceed to try and understand what its talking about in such a way that u can explain it to anyone and apply it, or you first take your time to understand the topic and then go on to thoroughly memorise the material. When you do this, there is no exam you wont come up on top and be among the best in your class and always score above the 70th percentile. This is how to be academically excellent.

Osun state poly iree Attacked by hoodlums

PRESS RELEASE: This is to carry along all current and former students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree that the unexpected happened to our great Students' Union Government 2016 led by DM, Muhammed Surajudeen (IMOLE 01) yesterday 5th of May, 2016 in Ospoly, Iree. Please not that contrary to latest reports(most uncensored) emanating from different angles. It happened that Ospoly Students' Representative Council's meeting was hijacked by unknown men(then) who disrupted the peaceful proceeding of the house presided over by Comrade Reformer, Hafeez Olakunle Olusanjo (Speaker/NANSJCC PRO) before making away with the legislative staff of authority(mace) of our great union with which the house cannot sit nor hold it's official meeting without after the hour of 6pm at the students union building (SUB), Campus. However, proactive measures have since been put in place by S.U.G servants, students' affairs and school authorities to regain the stolen symbol, while law enforcement agents have also began investigation on the ugly incident that had house members (Speaker, DSP, Clerk and Honourables) seriously injured for trying to jealously guard and avoid the theft. Strictly for the records, it should be noted that our SUG President would like to distance himself from emerging allegations that he or any SUG Executive had played any hiding or mischievous role in the sad event and we regret that the theft is currently marking an abomination in the golden pages of our history as a union. While our SRC members are currently reserved on the matter; we also urge all students, friends and the public to assist us in bringing back the values of our great union, as we remain dedicated to improving students' welfarism in and out of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree(Osun). NB: Please! Do not panic, go about your normal activities on Campus. And kindly help us in prayers for harmony to return. Courtesy: Ospoly SUG led by: DM, IMOLE via Mike Halim, McOluMikO, PRO. Visit

Closing Date For JAMB Change of Course/Institution for 2016 Extended

textbook.jpg

Due to some hitches experienced on JAMB change of course and institution portal lately, the 2016 JAMB Change of Course and Institution has been extended.

However, this extension will not be long. The official closing date for 2016 JAMB Change of course/ institution is on Friday 13th, May 2016.

There will be no further extension. We understand that many candidates are waiting to know the cut-off marks of their respective institutions before making the decision on whether or not to go for change of course and institution.

However, many of this institution usually wait until announcing their post-UTME sales of forms to make known their cut-off marks. If you wait that long, you may have only succeeded in putting yourself in an unfavourable position because change of course and institution would have been very much over by that time.

So what you should rather do is make your decision based on the previous Post-UTME cut off marks of these institutions and effect the necessary changes immediately.

Please DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE.

We have already helped many candidates to effect changes in their courses and institutions with 100% success rate. We can do that for you too. If you would like to make any changes, please click here to apply for change of course and or institution.

Updates on UI Senate meeting held on tuesday

textbook.jpg

GREATEST UITES! It is no longer news that the management of the institution through its Senate has concluded its decision on resumption. It was decided at the meeting that resumption date remains UNANNOUNCED until the Governing Council sits on Monday, May 16, 2016 over Mote's case.

We know that this craft on the side of the management is an attempt to dampen students spirit and disinterest us (students) in this ongoing struggle; we are also aware that it is an attempt to prevent further students' agitation if the Council's decision does not free or favour Mote. Greatest Uites! They have suddenly forgotten that we will forever remain resilient and undaunted in this struggle. Whether resumption is now or later, we shall continue with our agitation if Mote is not freed. As we remain optimistic, we urge everyone not to allow anything such as this to disunite us. Let us continue to raise our voices against injustice. Let the countdown begin
